How does the additional 5% rebate work?
You will get an additional 5% rebate in the form of Metro$ based on the nett amount charged to your Metro-UOB Platinum Card, on all merchandise including sale items.
How can I earn Metro$?
You earn Metro$ each time you charge a purchase at Metro to your Metro-UOB Platinum Card.
How can I redeem my Metro$?
You may redeem a Metro Shoppers Cheque at any of our Customer Service Counter as long as there is a minimum of 5 Metro$ accumulated. You may use the Metro Shoppers Cheque to offset your next purchase at any of our Metro Stores. Please note that Metro Shoppers Cheques terms and conditions apply.
When will my Metro$ expire?
Metro$ earned will expire 1 year from date of issuance.
How can I keep track of the Metro$ in my Metro-UOB Platinum Card account?
The Metro$ rebate will be reflected on your charge slip.
Will I earn Metro$ when buying Metro Privilege/Gift Cards, Metro Gift Vouchers and Metro Shoppers Cheques?
No, 5% Metro$ rebate is not applicable for purchases of Metro Privilege/Gift Cards, Metro Gift Vouchers and Metro Shoppers Cheques.
Will my supplementary cardholder earn Metro$?
Yes, the supplementary cardholder will also earn Metro$.
What happens to my existing Metro-UOB Gold Card when I choose to accept the upgrade?
Your existing Metro-UOB Gold Card will be automatically cancelled upon receipt of your new Metro-UOB Platinum Card upgrade. We will send to you and your Supplementary Cardmember(s)*, the new Metro-UOB Platinum Card within two working weeks upon receipt of your Upgrade Acceptance Reply Slip - subject to Bank’s Approval. In the meantime, you may continue to use your current Metro-UOB Gold Card. With this exclusive upgrade offer, the annual fee will be revised to $180. This annual fee will apply to your Metro-UOB Platinum Card from the third year onwards.*
*with the upgrade offer, you will enjoy a two-year annual fee waiver for your new Metro-UOB Platinum Card.
What happens to my existing balance, Instalment Payment Plan (IPP), GIRO, recurring bill payments, Metro$, SMART $ and UNI$ rewards on my existing Metro-UOB Gold Card?
What will be transferred?
When your card is upgraded, the following will automatically be transferred onto your choice of new Metro-UOB Platinum Card:
- GIRO+ - ATM linkage - Metro$ - SMART$ - UNI$ rewards^ - Recurring bill payment to UOI - FIPP & UOB Life Assurance only - Linking of Kris Flyer account number for conversion of UNI$ into Frequent Flyer miles (if any) - Instalment Payment Plan - Outstanding Balance - Credit Sure
+ For the 1st month, you are required to check if GIRO payments to the respective organisations have been successful. If unsuccessful please arrange for alternative mode of payment. We appreciate your understanding in this matter and apologise for any inconvenience.
^ For UNI$ rewards, you are encouraged to utilise your UNI$ before the expiry date as stipulated on your current statement. There will not be any extension of UNI$ rewards expiry dates with this upgrade exercise.
What will not be transferred? When your Card is upgraded, the following will not be transferred onto your new Metro-UOB Platinum Card:
- Recurring bill payment instructions# - Linking of Asia Miles account number for conversion of UNI$ into Frequent Flyer miles (if any)
# If you have existing standing instructions arranged for recurring payments such as insurance or telecommunications bill payments, on your Metro-UOB Gold Card, you will need to inform your bank/service providers of the change in account number upon receipt of your new Metro-UOB Platinum Card.
What happens to my recurring bill payment instructions? If you have existing standing instructions arranged for recurring payments such as insurance or telecommunications bill payments, other than UOI - FIPP & UOB Life Assurance on your Metro-UOB Gold Card, you will need to inform your bank/service providers of the change in account number upon receipt of your new Metro-UOB Platinum Card.
What happens to my SMART $ and Metro$ earned? Your SMART$ and Metro$ will be transferred but you are encouraged to utilise them within a month after your new Card has been issued.
Do I need to submit income documents if I decide to upgrade? No, submitting income documents is not necessary unless you wish to have your credit limit reviewed, in which case, you will need to attach your updated income documents with an Upgrade Acceptance Reply Slip.
What happens to my Metro-UOB Gold Card if I choose not to accept the upgrade? UOB has stopped issuing the Metro-UOB Gold Card thus all existing Metro-UOB Gold cards that was not upgraded would have been terminated by 31 December 2010. Any balance of Metro$, UNI$ and SMART$ from your account before the termination date would have been forfeited. You will continue to receive a statement for your existing Metro-UOB Gold Card until all the outstanding balance has been settled. All GIRO and recurring payments will remain active until all outstanding balance is cleared. Any ongoing instalment payment plan will be terminated and a full payment or final settlement on the Instalment Purchase Price or the balance amount must be made by the due date reflected in the statement.
